Substitute Teaching Positions – Federal Work Study, Student Assistants & OPS

Substitute Teachers are an integral part of the UF ECC program, assisting in the classroom and administrative offices.  They may be assigned to work with children from infancy through age five as they work in a team setting in the classroom either alongside a full-time teacher or another sub. Duties include, but are not limited to assisting with the care, safety, and supervision of the children in the classroom and playground, engaging children in play-based experiences, and assisting with meals and naptime.

Substitutes are needed both full days and part days, Monday through Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. at all centers.

Many of our subs are hired as either OPS (temporary position with the University that internal or external candidates can apply as), Student Assistants (for current UF Students), or as a Federal Work Study Student (for those students who have been awarded Federal Work Study).  We seek applicants who have at least 2 years of experience working/volunteering with young children in a preschool, school, or camp setting.

Each semester, UF ECC leadership gauges the need to hire additional substitutes based on staffing and enrollment needs. Hiring generally takes place mid-semester for the coming semester; however, we keep all applications on file for if a position becomes available at any time.
