Q: How do children get selected for admissions at UF ECC?
A: The categories used for the selection criteria for a child’s enrollment are age and parent affiliation with UF (Faculty, staff, Post-Docs, Graduate students, Undergraduate students, fellows, interns, residents, etc.). When a space becomes available, a child will be selected using a random computer-generator selection process.
Q: How can I check my child’s application status to determine my child’s position on the waiting list?
A: There is not a waiting list or ranking of admissions applications. Once your application is received, it is processed and entered in to the Admissions database, and your child becomes part of the applicant pool for lottery selection.
Q: Will my other child(ren) be given priority for enrollment?
A: Students are selected by lottery to complete the enrollment of each class. While there is no guarantee a sibling will be selected for admission, they are given priority status if a sibling is currently enrolled.
Q: Can I apply for the application pool even if I do not have information such as UFID number, affiliation with UF, address in Gainesville, date of birth, gender, and name of my child?
A: Yes, parents can apply through our Application Form. Please provide as much information as you can at the time. Once you have moved to Gainesville and have your UF identification, it is your responsibility to update your information with the Enrollment Coordinator, Ethel Rocha ethelrocha@ufl.edu, and to confirm that your application is complete. Only complete applications are eligible for selection.
Q: Are there any discounts for siblings?
A: No. We do not offer discount for siblings. Siblings pay full tuition as well.
Q: How soon will I know if my child has a spot?
A: First round selections will be completed in the months of May-June and selected families will be notified via email. If you did not get an offer during our first round of selections, your application will remain current for the rest of the school year. If a space opens and your child is selected, you will receive an email from the Enrollment Coordinator.
Q: Is it guaranteed that I will receive a space in the school year I have applied for?
A: No. A space is not guaranteed. However, if submitted by the April 15th deadline, your application will be included in the first round of selections and will continue to be included in selections throughout the school year when spaces become available.
Q: Do I have to re-apply if I decline the space?
A: If a space is declined, your child’s application will be removed from the database and will not be considered for the next round of selections in that school year. Parents can reapply by the April 15th deadline to be considered for the following school year.
Q: Will my application remain in the database for subsequent years?
A: No. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to resubmit the application by April 15th each year.
Q: Does UF ECC offer part-time options?
A: UF ECC offers only full-time care. UF ECC centers are open year-round Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 5:30pm and follow the UF Holiday calendar. We have an open-door policy. Parents can drop off and pick up anytime within these hours or bring their child a few days a week, however the tuition is paid the 52 weeks a year regardless of attendance.
