Waiting list: FAQ
Q: If my child does not get a space, is the application fee of $100.00 refundable?
A: No, the waiting list application fee is non-refundable.
Q: Can this fee be applied toward registration fee or tuition?
A: No, this waiting list application fee can only be used to place a child on the waiting list. A separate fee will be paid for registration and tuition.
Q: How long do I have to wait for my child to be enrolled at Baby Gator?
A: There is a 2+ year wait time for most age groups. Baby Gator stays fully enrolled year-round. Our primary enrollment period is Summer. There is minimal movement on the waiting list throughout the year.
Keep in mind that being on the waiting list does not guarantee a space for your child at Baby Gator.
Please contact the Enrollment Coordinator Ethel Rocha ethelrocha@ufl.edu for more information regarding current wait period.
Q: After I apply to the waiting list, can I change the projected start date?
A: Yes, families may change their requested start date any time prior to being offered a space by contacting Enrollment Coordinator Ethel Rocha.
Q: Can I apply even if I do not have information such as UF ID number, affiliation with UF, address in Gainesville, date of birth, gender and name of my child?
A: Yes, you can apply any time after conception and update this information by contacting the Enrollment Coordinator by email or phone call.
Q: Is there any discount for siblings?
A: No, we do not offer discount for siblings. Siblings pay full tuition as well as the waiting list application fee. However, siblings of enrolled children are given priority on the waiting list.
Q: How soon will I know if my child has a spot?
A: Baby Gator parents are required to give 30 days’ notice of withdrawal. As soon as this withdrawal notice is received, current enrolled children will transition to the next age group, and the open space in a particular age will be offered to the next family on the waiting list within the same age group. Parents can check with the enrollment coordinator via email anytime. Please refer to question 3 regarding wait time.
Q: Is it guaranteed that I will receive a space by the date indicated on my waiting list application?
A: No. Being added to the waiting list does not guarantee your child will be enrolled by the date you requested.
Q: Do I have to re-apply for the waiting list if I decline the space?
A: yes, families who are offered a space and decline, will be removed from the waiting list. To rejoin the waiting list a new application and application fee ($100.00) must be received.
Q: Is there any financial assistance available to help pay for childcare cost?
A: The Early Learning Coalition of Alachua provides financial assistance to eligible families. More information can be found at www.elcalachua.org
